We
are surrounded by 2,147,000 acres of National Forest which contains hundreds
of miles of marked trails and roads accessible by foot, horses, ATV's, or
4x4's (motorized vehicle restrictions on some trails). The Pioneer Mountains
offer breathtaking views of high mountain meadows, rugged mountains, hidden
lakes, and wildlife.
Explore! This area is filled with historic mining ruins, and is home of the newly appointed state historical site Coolidge Ghost Town/Elkhorn Mine, a silver mine and ghost town once in operation during the early 1920's.
Dig! Crystal Park is
just 4 miles up the road from us. So bring your shovels (or spoons!) and
find the beautiful quarts, smokey quartz, and amethyst crystals. They vary
in size, but can be as large as your fist! Kids especially enjoy digging
for these hidden treasures.
Relax! Sit on the porch of your cabin or the deck of the lodge. Breathe in the fresh mountain air and listen to Warm Springs Creek trickling by.
